|Dr. Andrea Scheuzger,|
Hastings Orchestra Director
Andrea Scheuzger is the founding director of the Hastings Orchestra Program, which she has led since 1988. Dr. Scheuzger received her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Minnesota. She earned her PhD in music education, with a concentration in string pedagogy, while serving as graduate assistant to Dr. Robert Gillespie at the Ohio State University. In addition to her work with Hastings string players, Dr. Scheuzger teaches string education methods classes as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas.
Dr. Scheuzger has served as assistant conductor of the Columbus Symphony Junior Strings Youth Orchestra, and makes numerous appearances as a clinician and adjudicator at music festivals in the Twin Cities area. A violinist, Dr. Scheuzger has performed with the Columbus Light Opera company, and with the Rochester Orchestra and Chorale of Rochester, Minnesota since 1989.
When she is not in front of an orchestra, Dr. Scheuzger and her husband, Thomas, enjoy exploring the many lakes and rivers of Minnesota’s great wilderness reserves in a tandem sea kayak. They share their Hudson, Wisconsin home with a menagerie of woodland creatures, and two plump-and-opinionated house felines.
