Prerequisite: Spanish-Third Year I/ II or teacher recommendation

NCAA approved

Students will use their Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing to explore the contributions of the Hispanic civilization to our world. Content themes entitled Future, Legends and Myths, The Fusion of Europe with the Americas, The Environment, and Rights and Responsibilities will guide student exploration. This course will significantly aid the student’s transition from high school to college study not to mention their efforts to pass proficiency standards or test out of university courses. This course is designed for students interested in pursuing Spanish in a post-secondary course or desiring a comprehensive knowledge of the language and culture. Students will use the textbook Realidades 3 by Pearson Education 2008®. They will further enhance their reading skills and cultural knowledge by reading The House on Mango Street and current events articles in Spanish. Practice continues outside of class by using the textbook online with its companion Website.
