PEER TUTORS!  Attention all Juniors and Seniors -  Do you want to help your fellow students succeed in school?  Become a PEER TUTOR.  Please apply today to be a peer tutor!  Applications can be found in the counseling office and are due tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 21)!  Ask Ms. Hoff for more details.

Culinary Club will kick off on Monday, September 25 after school in room C321.  Love to cook or want to try some new recipes?  Culinary Club is for you!  All students are welcome!  Please see Mrs. Millhollin if you have any questions. 

Thursday morning Bible study will start this week!  7:15am Thursday in room B217.  All are welcome!

Astronomy Club will have the first meeting of the year Thursday at 2:40 in room A109.  Topics this week include the summer solar eclipse, the end of the Cassini mission, and the upcoming Activity Fair.  All students are welcome.

Exchange students, ambassadors and French student you are officially invited to the 1st French Club Event of the year! Come welcome our Exchange Students at the Ice Cream Social this coming Monday, September 25th at 2:40 pm in C322. Come for ice cream and conversation - stay for friendships!

Star Wars Cub, this Wednesday and Thursday in B317. We will be watching Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Hope to see you there! Have a great week, and may the force be with you.

All Students - The HHS Feminism Club’s first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 20 in room C227.  All are welcome to attend. 

Attention Juniors - If you are interested in earning scholarships, academic recognition, and would like practice with taking standardized tests like the ACT, you should sign up to take the Practice SAT that will take place on Saturday October 14th from 8am to 1 pm. The cost to take the test is $25. See Mr. Cooper in the counseling office for more information.

All Students!! If you have pictures of fun stuff you did over the summer such as going to cabins, to concerts, to games or other fun summer related activities and would like to have them in the yearbook this year, please send the pictures with the names of who is in them to 18rachel.carlson@hastingsapps.org. There is a good chance those pictures will be in the yearbook!!

GSA (Gender & Sexuality Awareness) will kick off on Thursday, September 21 after school in room C321.  GSA is a club for LGBTQI+ and straight students to come together to show support while providing a safe place to socialize. All students are welcome!  Please see Mrs. Millhollin if you have any questions.

If you are a Sophomore of Junior taking Spanish 2 or above, you are invited to join the group of students headed to Panama next summer for a once-in-a-lifetime language and cultural immersion experience. Visit our website Panamá 2018 for more information and talk to Paz, Rosita or Carlos. We will be accepting applications through October 15. 

¡Oye Sociedad Quijote members! Friday, September 22nd is our first breakfast. Be in the Lecture Hall by 7:10. This meeting is MANDATORY. Bring 10$ and your Quijote T-shirt, as we will be taking our group picture. ¡Nos vemos!

Class Officers - Attention all students who want to run for a class officer position: Class President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The application is new this year and is located online at the Hastings High School Home page under student forms. It is a 2-part process: part 1 is completed online, part 2 needs to be printed, signed and is due to the student office Friday, September 22nd by 3:00 PM. If you have any questions please see Mr. McLay in the student office.

SPORTS

The varsity girls tennis team lost to Simley 3-4 yesterday. They are now 2-2 in their conference record. JV girls tennis beat Simley 4-3!

All of the girls would like to thank students and staff that participated in their chipotle fundraiser Monday night! Go Raiders!
