Have
you taken the ACT? If not, there is still time. Most juniors take
the ACT in April. Students can retake the test in June, September, October or December.
The
ACT will be offered at HHS in September, December and April.
HHS
students are not guaranteed a spot at the HHS test site. All registration is done through ACT and placement is based on space available
at the time you register.
REGISTER EARLY! The test is
also offered at several other locations including Park High School, Cannon Falls
High School, Inver Hills Community College, and the University of Wisconsin,
River Falls.
We
do encourage students to register for the ACT Plus Writing option (as opposed
to Multiple Choice Only).
Registration
is done online at www.actstudent.org. The registration process is
lengthy and will take some time to complete. In the section that requests
information regarding your grades, you can download an unofficial transcript through SchoolView to use as a reference.
Your
high school code is 241050 and the Hastings High School test center code
is 210500.
WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO INCLUDE COLLEGES YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT APPLYING TO ON THE "FREE SCORE REPORT" SECTION! Often times students will not do this because they are worried their scores will be low. Colleges like to see students take the test multiple times and they will only look at high scores. If you do not list colleges when you register for the ACT, you will need to pay to send them later.
After
you submit your registration, ACT will send you confirmation of your
registration. Bring an ID (driver’s license), an ACT approved calculator,
and #2 pencils with you on the day of the test. The test starts at 8:00
a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.
Once
you get your results, make an appointment to see your counselor. We can
help you interpret your scores.
