College Planning Timeline

High School Checklist

It's never too early to start preparing for college. Since colleges look at your accomplishments from all four years of high school, you don't want to wait until your junior year to start thinking about your GPA and college admissions.

The primary focus of your sophomore year should be: keeping your GPA up, get involved in extracurricular activities and preparing to take the SAT or ACT. Practice tests are available in the Career Center.

Maintaining your grades this year is important, but at the same time you need to make sure that you're challenging yourself academically. Start working on scholarship applications now! You will be very busy your senior year and may find it difficult to make time to do the applications.

This is a BIG year for you! Be sure to avoid senioritis and keep working hard. Keep talking to your counselors, take challenging classes, save your money and have fun!
