Description:
Peer Court was established by the Dakota County Attorney's office in conjunction with the Dakota County District Court. Peer Court provides an alternative approach to juvenile court in which a jury of peers recommends to a Dakota County Judge sanctions as an alternative sentence. Peer Court offers education and hands-on experience about the juvenile justice system while holding minors accountable for their delinquent behaviors. Hundreds of Hastings students have served as Peer Court jurors over the years and many of them are currently studying the justice system in colleges and universities.
