Thursday, May 7th - A Day

  • Outdoor Club permission slips for the fishing trip are due back to Mr. Shemon by this Friday. No slip, no trip! 

  • Writing Club is happening today after school. If you want to come to the Young Author’s Conference, make sure you come to Writing Club today to get your permission slip  and more information about the field trip on May 27th. If you can’t come today, send Mrs. Schumacher a Schoology message.

  • Mr. Wynn recommends a book that can be categorized as a fable, adventure, philosophical fiction, and modern classic. The author combines magic, mysticism, wisdom, and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery.

Wednesday, May 6th - B Day

  • 5th graders, remember that you have earned Chromebooks at lunch today, May 6th for winning the Clean Up, People! Award.

  • Shout out to our HMS Boys Tennis Team. They won over Skyview yesterday afternoon 7-0. Great Job gentlemen!

  • Happy National School Nurses Day. Extra special thank you to our school nurses Erin and Katie. They do a wonderful job each and every day, making sure our students are cared for! Thank you Nurse Erin and Nurse Katie. 

  • The book Mr. Wynn recommends was first published in 1988 and was written by a Brazilian author. This title had very slow sales at first, but has become one of the best-selling books in history. It has been translated into over 65 languages and has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

Tuesday, May 5th - A Day

  • Student Council members, our last meeting of the year will be tomorrow morning in Ms. Ryan’s classroom from 7:40 am until the first bell! Make sure to be there!

  • Attention next year’s WEB Leaders: Check your email for a couple of important announcements. 

  • 8th grade DC kids, this is a reminder that we have a parent/student meeting this Thursday at 7pm in the HMS auditorium. Please check in with you parents for an email with details and see Mr. Hanson with any questions.

  • In the book Mr. Wynn recommends, Santiago’s quest leads him to riches far different (and far more satisfying) than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, recognizing opportunity, and following our dreams.

  • To staff and students, we will all participate in a safety drill during 2nd hour.    It is very important that we report immediately to 2nd hour to allow for attendance prior to the drill.

Monday, May 4th - B Day

  • There will be an Outdoor Club meeting in Mr. Shemon’s Room today after school to discuss the upcoming fishing trips in May and hand out permission slips. The meeting will go until 3 p.m. Can’t make it–talk to Mr. Shemon or Mr. Kreuser for a permission slip. ‘

  • Attention 7th graders: please remain seated with your advisory class today. Recently, many students have not been sitting in their assigned advisory areas or meeting expectations.

To review, expectations are:

  • Sit with your advisory class

  • Stay seated unless you are going to the lunch line or throwing away trash

  • Keep your voice at an appropriate conversation level

  • Not making a mess with your food.

Today, any student not meeting these expectations will have their name recorded and receive a referral. Please note that referrals may result in not being allowed to attend the Top Golf field trip.

  • The Clean Up, People! (CUP) Award competition is happening this spring to keep our spaces clean. Once each week, certain students and staff will rate cleanliness of floors, walls, and spaces in each grade-level house. The votes are in and this last week’s winner of the Clean Up, People (CUP) Award is fifth grade! Fifth graders have earned one day this week of Chromebooks at lunch this Wednesday, May 6th. This award will have a new grade-level winner each week so remember to Clean Up, People!

  • This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Take a moment and thank a teacher and remind them of what a difference they make!

  • Mr. Wyann recommends a book that begins with a young Spanish shepherd named Santiago who has a recurring dream about a hidden treasure located at the base of the Egyptian Pyramids. To follow this dream, he must sell his flock and cross the sea to Africa.
