Technology is the application of math and science for specific purposes. In short, technology makes our lives better or more enjoyable. People in technological fields use knowledge, tools and skills to increase our potential, solve practical problems and modify our world. Technology education (tech ed) prepares students to participate in our rapidly changing world.

Technical training benefits all students, regardless of their post-secondary school plans. In tech ed courses, they learn to think and intervene creatively to improve quality of life; they become autonomous problem solvers as individuals and in a team. In the Industrial Technology Department, our goal is to provide students a level of understanding that enables them to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world situations. In the classroom, they learn to recognize needs, wants and opportunities, and to respond to them by developing a range of ideas, products and systems. In combining practical skills with an understanding of aesthetics, function and industrial practices, our students gain confidence-building experiences vital to making educated decisions about choosing a job, field of study, trade, profession and more.
